About Therapy with Me

Offering virtual therapy to women in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming…

1707953515You’re here, which means…

You’re probably ready for something to change.

Starting therapy is a great first step! Anxiety, depression, self-loathing, or a strong self-critic… yep – those are things I can help with!

That internal voice telling you you’re not good enough, you messed up again, and you can’t seem to get this problem, or your life for that matter, figured out. Yep – I can also help with that!

Space to process feelings of shame and guilt or wonder about who you even are?? I’m here for that, too!

Those are challenges we often face as women, and it’s my honor to support you in your journey to feel better – that means to feel stronger, more confident, more compassionate toward yourself, and more joyful. That means more energy, less anxiety, and more overall feelings of “hell yeah!”

My work now revolves around women’s alternative wellness, and I focus on recognizing the current political, environmental, and social climate and finding wellness alongside those realities.

351198734You may wonder what’s possible for your future.

Or you might doubt you can be as happy as you want.

Or you might not even know what you want!

It’s all okay. In this modern world, we are constantly bombarded with cultural and social messaging that can make us feel ashamed, unworthy, confused, overwhelmed, and lonely.

No wonder you’re not really sure what exactly you want to be different.

In our work together…

We’ll sort through those external layers to better understand how those messages have impacted you.

We will nurture and strengthen your internal parts so that you feel more in control of your daily life.

We will explore your identity in a way that awakens you to your deeper drives, goals, and dreams so that you can start trusting yourself again.

You DO know what you want, and even better, you DO know how to make your happiness come true. I can help you access your truth.

About1Fine-tuning and listening to your intuition…

So often, we are encouraged to ignore our intuition and appease other people’s expectations of us.

We feel something in our gut that says, “Don’t do that… that’s not for you… that’s for them…,” or we get the sense that we can’t trust someone or their ability to respect our boundaries.

We maybe feel like someone is taking advantage of us because we want to make those around us happy. When we ignore this, we ignore our intuition, which either gets louder in unhelpful ways (illness, pain, anxiety, depression), or it gets quieter, and we lose touch.

If we try to honor our intuition and create and maintain boundaries, we are sometimes perceived as mean, selfish, or the “b-word.”

That’s on society. That’s not on you.

Let’s re-awaken our intuition. Let’s reconnect with those little messages telling us to protect our joy, happiness, sanity, and well-being. It doesn’t mean we must be evil, cruel witches from Disney movies. It means we are connected to what makes us joyful and what helps us feel safe and respected around others.

It means we can listen to our “bullshit meter” and respond in kind and firm ways to thrive.

1737902981Your “wildness” is a true gift.

You know your wildness, that energetic feeling that bubbles up from within when you feel joy, excitement, love, and anger. It’s that part of you that feels alive and sometimes uncontrollable. It’s that vibration you get when you release, just for a moment, the tethers that hold you to the ground. It feels so good.

It also can feel so deeply and painful that we hide from it.

And sometimes, it can feel overwhelming and scare you and others. It can even cause pain or damage to you or someone close to you. Guilty or shameful feelings wash over you after it’s been unleashed.

These experiences have made us repeatedly feel that our wildness needs to be tamed.

It doesn’t. It’s beautiful, and it’s human. Sure, we don’t really want it taking total control over our lives and hurting those we love. But we CAN learn to work with it, honor it and, if we are lucky, love it. We can learn how to FEEL it and allow it to lead us into places so unique and special that we are revitalized by it.

We can learn how to listen to it and respond so that it doesn’t rear up and cause damage. We can also learn to sense those moments when others fear it and tell us to keep it silenced. It’s about their insecurities about your power – that’s not about you.

We’ll work together virtually, but it might not be what you think.

We won’t just sit across from each other on a screen and talk. It’s much more engaging than that!

Together, we’ll use many modalities to bring creativity and joy to our work. We can use music, art, and even some movement!

And you’ll enjoy other benefits, too – like doing our sessions from the comfort of your home and ZERO commute time! You can even have your pet nearby as we work together (mine is usually under my desk). 🙂

I’ve been doing virtual therapy with clients for several years. I know it works because I’ve seen it work. 🙂

About Me

20headI was born and raised in Montana.

So, I strive to embody the genuine and open nature quintessential to Montanans.

I understand the rural living, the freedom of open spaces, and the importance of community and neighbors. I know how one can feel both loneliness and total fulfillment at the same time when surrounded by beautiful natural spaces. I understand survivability and unpredictability. And I’ve also answered these questions a hundred times: sometimes, we ride horses to school, and yes, we have running water.

These experiences have imprinted on me the value of my wildness, the value of natural spaces, and my relationships – with wildlife, nature, and others.

I consider myself an “outdoor therapist.”

I’ve spent over three seasons providing outdoor therapy to at-risk youth in the Washington State Olympic Peninsula and the Rocky Mountains of Montana.

I’ve provided family therapy outdoor retreats and have organized and led wellness outdoor retreats for adult women (my favorite type of work in the world!).

In the summers, I take the Wildroots Collective outdoors, leading 2-4 day wellness retreats for women. It’s an incredible experience!

I’ve always had a LOT of energy.

And because of how others have responded to it, it’s become a part of my identity.

Growing up, I often felt “too loud,” “too much,” or “overbearing.” It wasn’t until I was in my mid-twenties that I realized I wasn’t “too” anything! The world didn’t want me to take up space – it wanted me to be docile, passive, and small.

This realization opened my eyes to other forms of subtle but powerful forms of oppression, and that’s when I found my calling: helping women harness beautiful internal and external powers!

By the way, you’re also not “too” anything. You’re incredible just as you are, so let’s work together to FEEL that way!

Some of my education and training…

I earned my master’s degree from Saybrook University, a hybrid program headquartered in California, which provided me with a strong foundation in holistic and social justice perspectives.

I am currently earning my Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision from Saybrook.

I’m thankful for the opportunities to learn and hone my practice!

About3When I’m not doing therapy…

I LOVE coffee, so you’ll probably see me with a cup during our sessions.

My pup will also pop into the screen from time to time. But don’t worry: she’s signed all the confidentiality paperwork and is legally bound to keep anything she hears to herself.

My favorite pastimes are trail running with my pup, reading, and enjoying craft beer (although not necessarily in that order).

I can’t wait to meet you!

After working together, you’ll start noticing how your internal dialogue impacts your feelings. You’ll also realize aspects of your inner world over which you have more agency than ever imagined. This will translate into feeling more empowered, more in control, and more resilient to those parts of the external world you can’t control.

All this can happen in a few weeks or a few months… it totally depends on you.

I believe that therapy is a bit like massage therapy. Initially, you use it consistently and frequently to work out specific trouble areas. You then come back semi-regularly as needed to keep yourself feeling aligned, grounded, and in tune with your whole being. It’s the same with therapy: Our sessions can be scheduled regularly or as needed.

It all starts with a free initial consultation, where we’ll talk about what you’ve been struggling with, how it’s affecting you, and what direction you’d like to take in the future.

If you’re ready for change, it will happen.
